This is second piece I carved after beginning to sculpt in stone. I could clearly see a head on a torso with arms stretched to the sides and an open mouth and knew it had to be a crucified Christ. The nose was already broken and the eye already black. As I carved the teeth some were knocked out, as it could have been with Jesus after his flogging. In the torso is a black ring corresponding to where a spear was put into his side in order to check he was actually dead (looking for the separation of blood and plasma). I found some barbed wire on a walk and made this into a crown of thorns. This, unlike regular crucifixes, shows the agony of the cross.
